Many people have had success with toothpaste.

My hubby uses a few drops the orange liquid kind of windshield spray fluid on a microfiber cloth to keep his clean. When he refills the windshield fluid, he wipes down the outside of all the car lights.

My car is a problem because the dirt is on the inside. I have to take it to the mechanic and when they change the bulbs they wipe it out.

I paid a guy fifty bucks to treat the problem and the treatment lasted less than a week.

My son had this problem and here is his remedy:
Clean the headlights with soap and water.

  • Purchase gel type toothpaste.
  • Gather several nice soft rags to use and throw away when dirty.

  • Spread gel toothpaste over one headlamp and gently rub in circular motion, starting at top and going over the complete headlamp. This will only be the beginning. Keep using only clean cloths and throw dirty ones away.
  • If you have to stop before job is finished, be sure to clean headlamps with clean water.
  • You will have to do this more than once. He cannot remember how many times he did this as he did not complete it in one day.
  • This was on a Corvette and the headlights were very dirty yellow but it did work and stayed clean over a period of time.
  • He did not let them get that bad again before doing this same procedure again only usually one time was sufficient.
  • I cannot guarantee this will work on other headlights but it did work for him.
