The completed crocheted booties.Since I had some leftover yarn and didn't want to discard it, I decided to make an old-fashioned pair of baby booties. With leftover yarn, you can make "free" baby gifts!

Note: Count the stitches at the end of each round to make sure they follow the right number of stitches according to the pattern.

Total Time: 3 hours

Yield: 1 pair

Supplies:

  • worsted weight yarn (I just used some leftover yarn)
  • Size G or H crochet hook
  • scissors

  13. For Round 9, you are starting the cuff section. For the first row, chain 9, This piece extends from the bootie and you will then be working up and down, rather than around the bootie. Starting in the second chain from the hook, sc 8 in the next 8 stitches. Slip stitch into the next stitch (next to the chain you did and in the previous Round 8). Turn and do 8sc-blo (back loop only) to the top of the row. Chain 1 and turn. Do 8 sc-blo back to the bottom. Repeat this pattern until you have gone all the way around the bootie. There should be 24 rows of ribbing. At the end of the last row, leave about 12 inches of yarn and use this to weave the first row to the last row of the ribbing. Secure with a knot and weave the remaining yarn into the top of the chains to hide.
