The completed Custom Made Jewelry BoxMy daughter has a huge collection of necklaces. We've tried various ways of organizing them and then came up with this customized jewelry cupboard which stores 50 necklaces.

Total Time: 3 hours

Yield: 1

Supplies:

Steps:

  1. Mask off cabinet with tape and paper and spray doors with frost spray. (I used frost spray to hide what is inside the cabinet.) Let dry and remove tape and paper.
  2. Constructing a custom made jewelry box.

  3. Cut wood into five sizes, the width of the widest board is one inch narrower than the depth of the cabinet. Each corresponding board should be one inch shorter than the previous board. When completed, there are ten pieces, two of each size. Glue pieces together. This will be the "bind" at the back of each wooden page that will hold the necklaces.
  4. Constructing a custom made jewelry box.

  5. Cut four large pieces of wood for "pages". Each page will be one inch shorter than the previous page. The first page will be one inch shorter than the width of the medicine cabinet. Add cup hooks at the top of each page. Add hinges at top and bottom of sides of pages.

Finally! Beauty and function! I'm a multi medium artist, so tons of jewelry to organize. A few things I would change: stagger height of hooks and add a few towards bottom for bracelets. For earrings I use a large 3 ring binder, clear plastic canvas, trimmed & covered with a thin happy fabric.

The binder is also covered in fabric with ties to protect from dust. Amazing job! Love it!
