DIY Foil Garden Pest Deterrents - deterrents in a fruit treeFor several years, most of our big fruit trees were being attacked by squirrels, birds, rodents, raccoons, and insects. Deterrent sprays did not work. Hanging shiny CDs barely helped at all. Finally, we tried this foil method and we have all of our fruit intact and growing at extremely rapid rates. Anyone need nectarines? We can't keep up! :)

Why do the foil creations work when CD's did not work. Doesn't make sense to me, but good to have the info.

I wish I had an answer for you but it's really just trial and error on my part. My husband was wondering if many they are "immune" to the CDs since everyone tends to hang them?

These are less round and super shiny and could look like other animals with their length and less high flare.

How does that help with the insects we had two plum trees of some sort and the insects got the small one and something else killed the big one

Maybe adding aluminum foil over the CD's would work better because of the different/crinkled texture you would have compared to the smooth CD. Just a thought.
