Dog Peeing Inside When Left Alone?

My 7 year old dog is left alone while I am at work. He pees all over the house while I am at work. There is nothing physically wrong with him. How can I stop this?

The dog may be bored or doing it out of spite. I would invest in baby gates and confine him to an area. I would also walk him immediately before leaving.

After confining your dog to a specific area, be sure to leave something with your scent on it (dirty sock, t-shirt, etc.) in the area.
He misses you.

A lot of people frown on this but if you have a small kennel try kenneling your pet while you are not at home make sure there is not a lot of space for your pet to move most pets will not go where they lay if it works Your pet will get into a routine and stop going in the home

Keeping him in a confined space with pads and food. Don't leave him any other room to potty. Take him out every chance you get any encourage him to go potty.

Award him when he goes. We clap our hands and say good job! Our yorkie gets all excited when he goes. Good luck! The older they get the harder it is to train.

Good advice here except for the fact that animals are not spiteful. If it appears they are being spiteful, review your pet psychology, or you may not understand what is going on. We humans see spite in their actions because we can be spiteful. It is part of our psychology, not theirs.

crating might be your only solution. Aside from leaving him outside in a yard during the day. By crating him you are both limiting the urine-infected area, and discouraging him to 'do his business' at inappropriate times, because for the most part dogs do not like to void in their beds.

He is older, and I assume you ARE sure that he doesn't actually have any kidney or bladder problems - I know our dog became incontinent a good 7 years before he passed away, and 7 is already 'up there', especially if he is a bigger dog or purebred

Questions: How long are you at work? If it is 8 hours or more you need a dog walker to come in and walk your dog in the middle of the day. Dogs get bored. As social animals they require human contact.
Do you walk your dog when you get home? I'm not talking about to do his business but an actual walk.
Dogs require walking every day to get rid of pent up energy. Depending on the breed, a 7 year old dog needs from 1/2 hour to an hour walk every day. It can be broken up into two walks daily.
