Double Purpose Pot of Tea

Bronze Feedback Medal for All Time! 146 Feedbacks

A bright red teapot.I enjoy a good cup of strong hot tea in the evening after a long day. The making of a whole pot of tea is a waste when you only take one cup from it and the rest goes down the sink. I chided myself every time I did it.

I also happen to like Arizona Green Tea and I used to buy it at The Dollar Tree for only $1.25 a bottle. It's not a lot of money but over time it still adds up. One day I thought I'd make my own version of it. All I needed was tea, lemon juice, and a bit of sugar. And the tea was already made.

My iced tea isn't always green tea based because I like some variety of flavor. I've made it with Earl Grey, chamomile, and ginger too.

What I've also done is make up water bottles filled with decaffeinated tea without sugar. Once in a while for fun I put a peppermint hard candy into the leftover pot of hot tea to give a light mint flavor.

Being thrifty means being resourceful and I think I achieved this, in fact I know I did, by eliminating waste, utilizing what I had on hand, and saving a few dollars at the same time.

She was chiding herself for wasting the tea from the pot after drinking just a cup. Now she makes the tea that she brewed into cold tea.

She was talking about wasting the tea, not the bags. Now she can make something out of the rest of the tea she brewed.

I like the idea of not wasting the extra hot tea from your evening cup and saving it to make flavored drinks for enjoyment the next day. I will have to try the mint candy to add a little flavor and sweetness. I like fresh mint!

I know SNOPES debunked a lot of the claims about reusing water bottles being dangerous...see this link below...but still be careful when doing this that they are cleaned using hot soapy water and dry before refilling. The debunked the claims about things leaching into the next drink, but a good cleaning is just common sense :)

You know what's good too Attosa if you like peppermint, is to use a candy cane to stir your tea, pudding and even jello instead of using a spoon. You'll get just a hint of the peppermint taste but it's not at all overpowering.

A healthy alternative.

I have to avoid caffeine, but love Chai Tea. So this is a cheaper alternative and healthier than buying the pre-made concentrate. Thanks for the tip.
