Easter Lilies are Poisonous to Cats

Lilies are a favorite flower for this time of year, especially as Easter gifts. But if you have cats, you should avoid these pretty flowers. The toxins in the flowers can cause liver damage and even death in small doses. This is true with other types of lilies so keep it in mind when selecting plants for your garden or yard as well.

Easter lilies are not very dangerous for dogs, although they may get an upset stomach if they get into a flower arrangement or potted lily. Pesticides and fungal growth can cause some problems as well. The biggest concern for dogs at this time of year is chocolate, which is a common gift at Eastertime. It can make your dog very ill so make sure your kids or grandkids are careful with their Easter basket goodies.
