Nick-named "The Grand Canyon of the East," Letchworth State Park can boast not just one amazing waterfall, but three major falls. The Seneca believed this falls was so powerful that it caused the sun to stand still at midday. We're proud here in western New York of our park. It took top honors in the USA Today Best State Park in 2015. Autumn just wouldn't be autumn for me without a visit to see the breath-taking colors of the changing season.

My husband was from the Elmira, Watkins Glen area of New York. We were coming home from a trip and I was the map reader...and somehow I made a "mistake" and we ended up at Letchworth...a good mistake to make since being around Watkins Glen and the park there, we had never gone to Letchworth.

It was a good side trip and we always wanted to go back to explore longer but never got the chance. But a must see.......
