I have seen a lot of old window panes used for wall decor, but since I didn't want to pay the price of purchasing an antique one, my husband made this one out of scraps of wood to make it look like an old window pane. I gave it a distressed look and added decor.

Supplies:
- flat white spray paint
- dowels
- old knob or handle
- drill and drill bit
- sandpaper for distressing wood
- screws
- screwdriver or electric screwdriver
- 7 1" by 2" wood furring strips
- 5 1" by 4" lumber pieces
Steps:
- Cut 1" by 2" wood furring strips as follows: 3 of equal length for left, middle, and right parts of frame. Then, cut 2 of equal length (for the crossbar in the middle) and that measurement is the combined total for the width of the inside of the frame less the width of the left, middle, and right furring strips that will be the cross bar of the frame. Cut, 2 equal pieces for the top and bottom of the frame.
- Drill and glue dowels for the crossover (middle of frame). Drill and screw the outer edges of the frame together.
- Cut shelf for the width of the frame from a 1" by 4" strip. Attach shelf to frame using screws.
- Paint the frame and shelf with flat paint and use sandpaper to distress.
- Cut 4 1" x 4" wood strips to match the dimensions of the existing frame and attach to the frame with screws. This is to secure the frame. Add knob or handle at bottom for decorative purposes.
