Finding a Free Refrigerator?

Can someone please help. Haven't been able to find work with this whole pandemic situation. My refrigerator gave out, had to throw my groceries away, it went bad. Where can I find a free refrigerator? Unfortunately financially no money. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

If you have insurance, the loss of your food could be covered. Getting a FREE frig maybe hard . You can ask around locally and through family and friends. If you are working , ask if you can put up flyer in your break room/ office board. If you are a senior you can can check with Social Services, HUD, Habitat for Humanity. And last check with appliance companies for maybe slightly damaged reduce frigs.

I'm sorry this has happened but large heavy appliances present many problems when trying to locate free items.
Pick up and delivery are usually the biggest problems as most likely you will need your own transportation - suitable to haul a refrigerator - as well as sufficient 'manpower' to pick up and deliver inside your living quarters.

You may find a free refrigerator but without this help it will not be available to you.

If you can arrange for pick up you can check free ads (your zip code) on Craigslist, USA4Sale, Freecycle and you can also place an add asking for help. You can still do these things even if you have no help available but be sure everyone knows you have no help.

Organizations like Salvation Army, Goodwill, some thrift church stores will help in situations like this - if you qualify - and some will deliver but generally charge and may not move it inside.

You can check out some of the places mentioned in other answers to see if they can help you:

It's a long shot to get a free refrigerator. You could post an ad explaining your situation and if someone with refrigerator experience could help try to fix it.

Or instead of a full size fridge ask if anyone has temporary fridge (smaller like collage dorm style) extra that you could have because full fridges will cost time/money to move.

You could also try contacting your local Churches/Charities, Furniture Banks or check local Organizations in your area that may be able to guide you in the right direction.

Good luck!

Can you post what city or town you're near? Might be able to get a repair instead of replacing it. Perhaps you could trade a skill of your own? Maybe some church or a food pantry can make some space for you on a shelf in their kitchen? Not convenient...but we might need to get creative here.

Also might try searching on Craigslist or local newspaper for a used ice chest; re-usable freezer blocks are on sale now that could serve in a pinch -- if you have access to a bag of ice every other day or so.

Did you get this resolved yet? Where are you located? With a location I can point you to possible resources. If you don't want to share, I suggest calling your local United Way. Getting a fridge is more than just someone giving you one. You have to be able to get it and install it and that can be a challenge if it is just you. You will need a service to help you coordinate this and see if you have other needs that can be addressed at the same time.

They also have many back to work programs to help you get back on your feet. For example there is a huge demand for contract tracers at the moment. Also there is a huge demand for census workers. Also one other thing in high demand is to have people work in the warehouses that do food deliveries and meal prep...assembling kits/food boxes. Prayers for solutions for you!
