Finding the Value of a Waverley Encyclopedia Set?

stack of books
Old encyclopedias often have very little monetary value unless they are quite old and appeal to the occasional collector. There may be other uses that they can be put to such as crafts or as reading books for home schooled children. Try to give them away or donate if possible. This is a page about finding the value of a Waverley encyclopedia set.

Most encyclopedias don't have much value, unless they are complete and over 100 years old. I would donate mine, rather than throw them away.

Are you in the US?
Most answers will apply to US sales.
This type of book is difficult to sell and many places (in the US) will not accept them as they can very rarely sell them.

If local auctions are available to you or something like Freecycle it would be nice if you listed them for free and maybe someone who home schools their children might like to have them.
There are some craft people who will use them sometimes but would not pay to get them (too many free ones).
Dictionaries fall in the same category but occasionally someone will buy an older edition but maybe for $5-10 dollars.

I have a full set of Waverley encyclopedias, The Book of Knowledge 1961 volumes 1-7, fact index volume 8, and Book of Words dictionary, volumes 1-3. They were bought for me in 1962 and are in brilliant condition. How much are these worth?

Most sets of encyclopedia are not worth anything. Here in Canada, you can't give them to libraries, charities, or anything like that.

About the only use for them is some sort of craft. You may find someone who wants them for that purpose that you can give them to.
