Fix for a Hair Perm Disaster?

I went to get a perm yesterday. I sat down with a few pictures and we both agreed that due to the length of my hair (two inches past shoulder length) that it would be hard to get defined curls, but that a loose body wave was definitely achievable. She failed to tell me that my hair dye would come out until half way through doing it. Then when it started running down her gloves she joked for several minutes that I was going ginger.

Then she put the perm solution on with a squirty lucozade bottle because they didn't have a proper one and squirted it down my face at one point. When I went home and it had properly dried the ends were straight and there were slight wave/kinks at the top of my head which is exactly the opposite of what she said would happen. I have had a full refund, but I am now furious with the result as it looks like I'm going to have to now use straighteners on my hair every day (damaging my hair even more) for it to not look like I just rolled out of bed with cow licks!

It's been 24 hours since I had it done; I shampooed it this morning to help reverse the process. Is there anything else I can do to make it less kinked at the top and how long after would you suggest I try get it done elsewhere?

Oh my! I am so sorry this happened to you! This could have been really bad if the perm solution had gotten into your eyes and damaged them. I am so glad that didn't happen.

Personally, I would prefer to go to another salon, and never go back to that salon again.

I agree with treating your hair with conditioners and not using any hot devices on your hair until it is back into good condition. Perms have harsh chemicals.

One way to get rid of curls from a perm, temporarily, is to wash, condition, and then blow dry with warm air, not hot, while gently brushing the hair straight.

Doing this will take some of the curls out until the hair is washed again. The curls will be strongest if you wash your hair and let it dry naturally.

I wish you the best, and I would condition, condition, condition!

Blessings,

Robyn

Wow! We must have the same stylest. I asked for a perm so I could have nice curly hair. She did not use the cotton wrap for my head, so the solution was dripping down my face.

The perm is awful. No curl just frizz.

Oh my. That you got a refund is good. The treatment you had is totally NOT acceptable. Did you YELP them with a bad review? I usually DO NOT do that...but sometimes there is a legit need to do so (nicely, but truthfully of course).

Please be careful with your hair for at least a month, conditioning with natural products. Try to avoid ANYTHING with chemicals and try NOT to use devices. Yes, it will be challenging, but you really do not want to exacerbate the issue.

If you can, find a gentle style--maybe with a soft hairband or fabric scrunchy, so you can do something different to control it until it is healthy enough to find a NEW stylist who can get you back on track.

I usually give a banana mask to help, but it sounds like you need one with more of a NATURAL oil base to help you.

You did get the refund, which is a good thing. Wait at least a month between two chemical procedures. The only thing I would do is to deep condition weekly. Even flat ironing is going to damage your hair.

Although you did get a full refund, I would request to speak to the manager (hopefully she isn't) and they should make your hair right again at no additional charge.

I had a horrible experience at a hair salon I frequently go to. I am a Yelp Elite Member and I received my experience and the manager Kindly offered me to come back at no additional cost to give them on last shot! I did return to try it out, but my fiancé refuses to give them his business.
