Found 2 Duck Eggs?

Found 2 Duck Eggs - eggs in the gardenWe have 11 neighborhood ducks that everyone on our block takes care of, feeds, and looks out for. They have a large pond where they live, but they spend a majority of their time in my yard. A couple weeks ago I found 5-10 eggs around the pond, grouped together. This morning I went out to feed them, and found 2 eggs next to my porch. And none of the ducks are sitting on them. I am not sure what I should do with them? Any tips or suggestions are welcomed. Thank you in advance.

I would leave them alone. They may be infertile or rejected by the mother for some other reason.

Do you have a wild life refuge nearby or a bigger size animal rescue? I would call them ASAP and ask them to check them out.

My guess is that a predator (human or otherwise) moved them or dropped them before they could eat them if it was a predator.

It is possible they are still viable...but probably not sadly...but these amazing folks (at least those around us are heroes for the wild life world) can tell you.

If they are viable, they can take them and take care of them until the hatch.

If they are not viable, they will respectfully dispose of them.

Poor eggs!! I am hoping they are viable!! Mother Nature can be so cruel.

Post back with an update.

I am guessing they were laid this morning. I constantly check on these ducks all day long. These eggs weren't here last night. But were here at 7am this morning. I just got home from being gone all day and they've been moved around and covered up. And there are 3 of the ducks in my yard still...the rest have went back to the pond.

Please leave them alone. She probably is nesting there. Sounds like more than one duck laying eggs. Ducks lay 1/2 eggs per day, depending on duck type and can lay up to 25 in total. I have Muscovys in my neighborhood, the moms Cone lay them every morning, when they are done they then lay on them for about 30 days, leaving only occasionally to eat.
