Free or Low Cost Pet Care?

I need to find a vet for my 10 yr old Shih Tzu, Zoey. She drinks a lot of water, is overweight, and has peeing accidents. I saved up 258 dollars and they drew blood and said she doesn't have diabetes. But they want $600 to do an ultrasound and I can't afford that.

Free vet care or payments.

Step 1
Call every vet in your area and ask for payments some will most won't.

Step 2
Make sure the ultra sound is absolutely necessary.

I think vet's are rather outrageous and they do things that aren't necessary most of the time. If the dog is overweight, it could be due to a thyroid problem. My friend's dog was having this exact problem and they did a test for the dog's thyroid. Now the dog is taking medicine for this one. I'd ask the vet to do the thyroid test on the dog. They have already drawn blood and this test should be easy for them to do.

Normally, that is one of the first tests they should do along with the test for diabetes. I would call this vet back and tell them you want him to test for a thyroid condition on the dog. It doesn't sound like the dog need an ultrasound and this condition can easily be treated with a pill each day.
