The way your question is posed causes one to believe you are asking if your hair will revert, on its own, back to the color it was before 'dyeing' it. If this is so, the answer is probably, 'No'.

The term 'dye' is outdated and usually refers to the earlier Paraphenylene diamines which were true dyes. They were harsh and did not leave translucency to the hair.

Today's hair coloring products, aside from the 'progressive dyes' such as hennas, are available in three forms of permanence. They are, the weekly rinse, the semi permanent colors which usually last from four to six weeks, and the permanent hair colors which last until they are either cut off or grown out.

All three leave a degree of translucency to the hair.

My answer was 'probably 'No'. If you used a permanent color, the answer is 'No'. If you used a semi permanent color (and taking other factors into consideration), it is possible that the color will in time, gradually fade to the point your hair approaches the color it was before color was applied. Again, this is not a definite answer. Too much is unknown. For example, was your hair a natural blond or had it been bleached?

Can you wait for it to grow out? If you'll look at the new growth, the roots, you'll see your natural colour coming back but - depending how long it takes your hair to grow, it might be a while before it's long enough for you to cut off all the brownish purple.

It depends what kind of a dye you used. A permanent dye may fade, but will never revert back to your natural color. Semi-permanent dyes will fade in 6 to 20 shampoos, depending upon the strength of the dye.

Some dyes wash out the next shampoo.

Your best bet is to contact a professional hair stylist and have them do it.
