Getting Rid of Ants in the Kitchen?

I am having a hard time with ants in the kitchen. Is there something I can do to get rid of them? It seems like every spring I am having this problem.

They won't cross lines made of chalk, flour, cayenne, and many other household items.

Those are all excellent ideas. Add to it getting a bottle of Terro. One little quarter size drop on the cardboard disks and they will look like a sun eclipse in an hour or two. In that I mean a clear center and black ants all trying to drink around it all.
