Getting Rid of Bugs In Hair?

Getting Rid of Bugs In Hair? Can any please tell me what this is? I have had this for almost three years. I am so frustrated. The doctors can't help. They run their hands through your hair and say I don't see anything. I tell them it's under the scalp and to scrap it and send it to the lab. And they won't. I just don't understand why someone can't help.

It could be bird mites. See a dermatologist if you havent already.

Its Demodex Mites, I have the same thing. They bite you at night time and are driving me nuts. Ive tried everything from borax, sea salt & vinegar baths, nothing is working. Ive tried nix and another one for scabies cream, not working. Im beside myself. My husband doesnt believe me and thinks Im going nuts. Ive lost my long natural eye lashes, my hair is thinning. I take a bath and shower everyday. Im using tea tree oil shampoo and conditioner. Ive been on Metronidazole meds for 3weeks. When I get out out the shower I mixed in a spray bottle, Olive oil, 20 drops of tea tree oil and 20drops of lavender oil on me.

For my hair I mixed in a bottle Apple cider vinegar, Eucalyptus oil, tea tree oil and let it sit for 20mins then wash it out. I cut out dairy cause they love it. I eat lots of garlic, carrots and vegetables. Im getting better but still have bad nights. I sleep with a light on. Im about to lose my mind and feel so alone. Its nice to know Im not the only one going through this. Good luck

I can see that you are frustrated but apparently your doctor (dermatologist?) does not believe your problem is a bug/insect but may feel it is psychological in nature and he cannot help you.

You do not say if you have any signs of bites on your scalp or if this is a feeling of something crawling under/in your hair/scalp that is causing you to scratch.
Sorry - Your pictures of your hair are just not clear enough for someone to say there is something there.

I can only think that you may have to try and 'capture' whatever is there and take it with you to a dermatologist.
You may be able to snip a couple of strands of hair and place them in a baggie; seal it and save in freezer until you see your doctor.
Some people capture them with sticky tape (any kind - even scotch tape) while others used a tissue and alcohol and rub on the hair and scalp.
Without some type of 'evidence' you may not be able to convince a doctor of your problem and when you ask for a 'scraping' you need to understand that a doctor has to justify requesting any type test, especially if insurance is involved (all types of tests are expensive).

You may be able to find a cosmetology school near by that you could make an appointment and discuss this with a teacher but you'll probably have to convince them it is not lice before they would see you.

I live near the University of Florida and I feel sure that if this was my problem I could contact the head of their dermatology department and they would see me for a discussion.
If you live near a university that has a medical department you might want to talk to them.

Although you do not appear to have head lice maybe you should think about using some of the same treatments that kill the head lice.
You probably do not need any prescription meds but many treatments that I know help kill head lice are usually already available in your home.

Just a few suggestions:
Olive oil or coconut oil can be used while combing the hair. This can be repeated every three to four days for a few weeks. Very good for your hair also.
Tea tree oil mixed with water or use on already wet hair.
You have to use something that will smoother whatever is on/in your hair - try petroleum jelly (Vaseline), olive oil, butter, or baby oil, or mayonnaise. Apply any one of these to your scalp and hair, cover with a shower cap or saran wrap and leave on overnight.
Sometimes just using a hair dryer may relieve the itching for a while.

Hope something works for you.

This could be Demodex Mites- that live on your body, and Demodex Folliculorum- Hair follicle mite, that lives in the follicles . So very small ,hard to see by the naked eye. It is microscopic small and often missed during regular exams.

Same issues!
I was watching tv yesterday and saw a tube of mentholated muscle treatment like bengay and as experiment rubbed on my legs and face and arms. Within an hour I watched these small white mites emerge from my body in droves! My eye area swelled then I saw a mass of white appear below my eye and get larger as more joined it. I grabbed clear packing tape and used it to lift all the mites from my legs etc. Most insane thing ever! Im buying up all kinds of mite treatments for carpets and person on Amazon! Ive had good luck w tea tree oil shampoos. I almost wasnt gonna share this and thought well Im not sure if anyone else had ever had that experience using a BenGay and that somebody might be able to get some relief or sick entertainment lol good luck to you!!!

Does it look like these.? They breed like crazy..The doctors don't know what it is only comes back as bacteria on biopsies. 3 years nothing has killed this stuff. They will try to give you depression pills or tell you it's all in your head (well duh) and the rest of your body. they embed under you skin and the only way I got them to detach from my scalp is with garlic and clove oil and rubbed it in to my scalp for 20 mins. I do this every two days and then comb it out . It's gross I know. Not to scare you but it will take over your entire house and yard, I had to put my cat down they attacked his face so bad and we spent over a thousand dollars and the vet couldn't help him. It also killed my entire community fish tank. Your family and friends will tell you it's nothing... It looks like dust when it's small and at night it looks like glitter. It gets all over everything and floats thru the air and it's impossible to get rid of. It seems to like wood furniture and will ruin antique furniture. I have been to 8 different doctor's and a derm doc and they wanted to give me depression pills for the fact they don't know what else to do for me. It is now in the food and drinks we buy at the store and all the clothing . If you want to join me in contacting the Dr. Phil show I believe is my last hope for getting help. Please contact me... take a glue stick (white) and rub it on your skin you will be shocked at what comes off your skin. I am so worried for humanity after dealing with this .....If you don't have it on you I guess you don't see it. for the fact when it's small it resembles dust. There are black things and white oval shaped things embedded in the skin. It is a nightmare I don't wish on anyone.

I have the exact same problem and I've been dealing with it for 4 years. You are not crazy! Everyone thinks I'm crazy also. These bugs are real. I've shaved my head several times threw everything in my apartment in the garbage and started over more times than I can count. Nobody has answer for me. I've used lice shampoos, lavender oils, apple cider vinegar, alcohol, you name it I tried it. Nothing helps. Please, let someone have the answer.

I have it inside my body as well as the same thing on my body,. They are in my feet. I can barley wear shoes. They are in my laminate floors, air conditioner, which make them everywhere. They are in my new car now. I have thrown away most of my clothes, all my towels, sheets, blankets etc. I feel things crawling on my face and taking a shower is a hour long ordeal.
My body gets stung and so it has effected my nervous system. Today i called in sick to work...which i never do.
I get worms stuck in my teeth, and lumps in my throat and skin.
Athletes feet generic spray gives my feet relief.
I shave my body when i can stand to be in the shower long enough. I broke out with something on my buttocks that i thought was herpes and now i think there is parasites in my body suctioned to that breakout area. No one believes me.
My biggest fear is bugs.Tonight i was eating chocolate pie and saw worms moving in it after i felt a weird texture in it. I am afraid to be near my kids and grandkids because i dont want to give it to them. And they are the only thing i care about.
Honestly i think im dying. I think im infested with bugs and worms. Its fungal for sure
I will take advice of the people ahead of me. Thank you. This iz too much mentally for me as well

I also have been dealing with this for years. My entire body, apartment, and car was infested and it is the most frustrating and emotionally draining thing I have ever had to deal with. It started in 2014 for me. I've tried everything. Tea tree, hydrogen peroxide, borax, lavender, garlic, coconut, antifungals (oral and topical), lice shampoo, dewormer, ivermectin, sulfur, neem oil, permethrin, bleach, etc.... The list goes on and on. I've shaved my head, threw all my stuff away, dusted and vacuumed every day, washed my bed every day, washed my laundry with amonia in it, and been to the doctors and they refer me to mental health. I finally moved out of my apartment and lived in my car. They went away for about 4 years and then came back. I figured out that it could be demodex. There are 4 things that will kill demodex. They are amonia (windex), hydrogen peroxide, kleen free (enzyme cleaner from Amazon), and tea tree oil. I finally got them under control once I figured this out. I also add amonia to my laundry. The enzyme cleaner from Amazon is my favorite thing, it saved me. Kleen Free or Kleen Green are amazing. I read so much about this online and there are so many people suffering with this that I cannot believe that the Medical community will not take this serious. I hope this can help someone out there to get some relief. Take care, everyone.
