My kids and I just moved into a new place. We don't own any animals, but just recently our neighbours said they had fleas. Knowing all 3 tenants have cats and dogs it's understandable for them to get it. But I have them in my apartment and I have no idea how to get rid of them in the house and get them out of my bedding and my hair. I'm a new to it all and I have a 18 month old son and he also has new bites and it's just irritating the poor baby. I don't want to call anyone in to spray harmful chemicals. Any suggestions would be nice. Thank you.

I don't know for sure if this will work for fleas, but it's worth a try. Get some dryer sheets that you like the smell of & put them in your house everywhere. I put them in my trash cans & around any place I think might be enticing to any kind of bug. It keeps ants & flies from your trash cans & I have not had any ants in the house since I started doing this. Might just work for fleas too!
Usually, fleas don't get into a person's hair. If they bite, it's usually on your ankles, and they don't stay on people. If your head is itching, check for head lice You will see small white dots which are their eggs.
Sprinkle salt all over the carpet and under the bed sheets, etc, all in the couch cushions. Wait for it to kill the fleas from causing them to dry up.

Please call your local public health office. They will have suggestions and may be able to assist. Your children being bitten is a health issue, the landlord will have to clean the infected apartments to the health code regulation.
