Getting a Murray Riding Mower To Run?

I have a Murray M15542 riding mower. We've replaced the starter and it ran fine a couple of times. Then it stopped running again. The fuse under the battery is good. My husband said he tried switching the safety switch wires under the seat and then it wouldn't start. Could there be another fuse somewhere or did that mess up the battery or something else. Please help because I'll be the one to fix this! And I'm the one who does all the mowing.

The carburetor may be clogged. A clogged carburetor is most commonly caused by leaving fuel in the lawn mower for a long period of time. This sticky fuel can clog up the carburetor and cause the engine to stall. If the carburetor is clogged, try cleaning it with carburetor cleaner.
Murray may also be able to help you, and here are some vids, as well, to try and trouble shoot the problems you're having w/ your mower.

Go back to the problem that started after it started(the wires). Make sure this is done correctly , also check filters, carburetor. Sometimes the smallest things get left out. Double check your work, so you can cross this off the list.

You do not say if your mower has been running okay before this problem but knowing that might help.
Did your mower run okay the last time you used it? And just would not start this time?

Have you cleaned out old fuel from last year? This can cause the carburetor and other parts to 'gum up' and it will not start.
Actually there are so many different reasons your mower will not start that it would take pages to list them.
I would suggest you read a few sites that have suggestions and make sure each thing discussed is not your problem.
ThriftyFun receives a lot of questions on this subject so maybe start with the past postings first:

Here is a link that has other suggestions; some answers may be for a different model but most are similar:

All of this is a lot of reading but the suggestions may help you fix this problem and keep future problems from happening.

If this was working after changing out the starter and stopped again it normally indicates there is an issue with the battery of the mower. Have you checked on the batter or the alternator that charges your battery when the mower is running? The first steps should be to remove the battery and have it completely checks out at an auto parts store. I know a lot of stores will say the battery is fine but have them do a deep test on this one to make sure that it is really holding a full charge and not just a partial charge.

Your battery should always be able to hold a full charge in order to start the mower and keep it running. If it is not holding a full charge this can drain the life out of the battery and cause your mower to not start again even if you think the battery is charged.
