Most people will not remove trees for free. It is a lot of hard work and requires expensive equipment. You could put an ad in Craigslist exchanging the wood for the labor, but I don't think you are going to have a lot of takers.
Where I am the only way this may happen would be through a barter arrangement. There are legit barter groups you could join.
When I put "live edge wood slabs for sale in Michigan" there were a number of hits. Maybe one of these companies would offer discounts for keeping the lumber. The worst that will happen if you ask is they say no.
