Herbed Mashed Potatoes

  1. Wash, peel, and chop potatoes.

  3. Wash and chop turnips.

  5. Fill stock pot with water, potatoes, and turnips. Bring to a boil and simmer until fork tender.
  6. Drain potatoes and turnips. Be sure to reserve 1 cup of cooking water.
  7. Chop onions.

  9. Add 1/2 cup butter to pan, chopped onion, and minced garlic. Cook on low heat until onions are translucent, stirring so garlic doesn't burn.
  10. Add 1 cup milk to pan.
  11. Put drained potatoes and turnips in pot and add cooking water to pan.
  12. Mash potatoes and turnips.
  13. Stir and add all herbs and spices.
  14. Stir all ingredients together and serve.
