Clean out clogged pipes with three kitchen ingredients.

Supplies:

Steps:

  1. Remove any standing water.
  2. Pour in salt (this usually fills the drain).
  3. Pour on baking soda.
  4. Pour on white vinegar.
  5. Pour on boiling hot water.
  6. It doesn't take effect immediately. Wait an hour, if it still has standing water add about a half a cup more vinegar.

I have used this on two sinks and one bathtub and it works.

It really does work! I tried a recipe that was just baking soda and vinegar but it was taking forever so I added some salt and boiling water and glub glub drain! Awesome!

This is so easy and worked like a charm! I always feel better about using natural ingredients instead of scary chemicals. Thanks for the tip!

Worked like a charm. Took about 15 minutes. The chemical reaction was cool too. Just don't breathe that stuff in.

I have used this on 2 different sinks. The first one, I was able to get most of the salt and bicarb into drain before adding water and vinegar: worked immediately! The second drain was much thinner in diameter and more heavily blocked, I couldnt get all of the bicarb in, so I just chucked it in over the drain hole and then added the vinegar and water: took a lot longer to clear but clear it did!

I must admit I added more hot water in an effort to make it go faster, but in the end I walked away and let it work its magic.

So, this didn't really work on it's own, BUT it definitely made a huge difference.

I had been trying to use a little zelcro-tipped snake that was getting nowhere, and after using this recipe, I managed to get the snake in and pull out the blockage. So, will definitely use this again in future when I need to unblock another drain. (Long hair is ROUGH on pipes!)

I went from a slow moving drain to a clogged drain after an hour of waiting. My plastic snake isn't getting through the salt and the soda.

I was skeptical but this really worked! We did one round of all the ingredients and a second round with just the vinegar and boiling water, waited 15 minutes then flushed out with hot water for 5 minutes.

I worked in my garbage disposal side, after letting it sit for 10 min I ran the disposal blades again and in seconds the clog was gone, simply amazing.
