Homemade Liquid Fabric Softener?

I buy a 40-50 lb bag of rock salt for $5. I put a1/2 cup on the bottom of the washer with my homemade laundry soap.i put 1/2 cup of white vinegar in my down ball. I put a small cloth that is soaked in vinegar with essential oils in the dryer. There is no lingering vinegar scent. I can't believe how soft my things are.
