How to Make a Recycled Spoon Flower

Spoon Flower - competed flowerHere is a way to sculpt a flower out of old spoons.

Supplies:

  • hot glue gun
  • glue sticks
  • 6 - 7 spoons, number depends on optional additional petals
Spoon Flower - supplies
 

Steps:

  1. Gather your supplies.
  2. Bend all 6 spoons until they break off. Keep 1 spoon unbent.
  3. Spoon Flower - bending the spoon handle
     
    Spoon Flower - spoon with handle broken off
     
    Spoon Flower - 5 spoon bowls and one spoon with handle intact, 5 handles that were removed
     
  4. Start with two spoons (petals) overlapping each other. Use the hot glue gun as shown. Finish all four petals. Glue the front and back.
  5. Spoon Flower - adding glue to first spoon petal near bowl
     
    Spoon Flower - attaching second petal
     
    Spoon Flower - third petal added
     
    Spoon Flower - now fourth
     
    Spoon Flower - put hot glue on back side of petal cluster
     
  6. Get unbent spoon and add hot glue around bottom of upright spoon and top of stem. Place spoon (petals) on top and press hard for a few seconds.
  7. Spoon Flower - add glue to intact spoon on front near bowl, attach to back side of petal cluster

  8. Next choose a bottom end of a spoon to place and glue in the middle. You will also add two more spoons (petals) on the side of it.
  9. Spoon Flower - add more glue to front of petals and add one of the handles previously removed
     
    Spoon Flower - adding additional petals
     
    Spoon Flower - final petals glued on

how do you hide the glob of glue?

I would stick something in the glue before it hardens. Maybe a gemstone or a metal button. Another option would be to use a glitter glue so it is more decorative.
