Toothbrush Bracelet - pink and green ribbon wrapped braceletsThere are many uses for old toothbrushes. Basically, we change brushes every three months. So when they are still useful, we recycle and use them instead in cleaning floor or kitchen tiles. In some instances we use them in washing and scrubbing dirt out of our shoe spikes.

Here's a craft idea for making a toothbrush uniquely useful in another way.

Supplies:

  • old plastic toothbrush
  • long nose pliers
  • food tongs
  • potholder or kitchen mitt
  • boiling water

Steps:

  1. Remove all the bristles by using the long nose pliers.
  2. Toothbrush Bracelet - remove bristles using the pliers

  3. Meanwhile, boil some water as you get busy putting away the brush bristles.
  4. When your boiling water is ready, dip the brush into it and wait until it softens and is bendable.

  6. When it is bendable and twistable enough, get the brush using the food tongs. Hold both ends of the brush using a pot holder and try to bend it.

  8. If the brush is still hard to bend you can put it back to the boiling water for some time and try bending or twisting it again. You can decide how it should look. Either you twist it or just bend it.

  10. In this illustration I choose to just do the simple process as twisting is not possible since my brushes are too short for such a technique.
  11. When it's finally bent it will be ready for wearing. If you use transparent, colored, and glittered brushes it would be presentable without decorating, but since the ones I used are not and aren't that fancy looking, I wrapped them up with ribbons. You can choose your own decorations and you can decorate it as much as you want.
