Ice Maker Tray Overflowing with Water?

My Kenmore refrigerator ice maker overflows the cube tray when filling with water before the valve closes. The water valve shuts off completely. Any ideas? Thanks.

Ice maker overflowing:

  1. Normally when this happens, it has to do with the high water pressure in a home. This is easy to troubleshoot on your own and fix it.
  2. There are 3 different types of ice maker in refrigerators.
  3. I don't know your model number so I can't tell you exactly what to do.
  4. However, if you go here: www.lg.com/.../CT10000021-1339009084981-water-overfilling... - and select your model of ice maker.
  5. Click on the image of your ice maker and follow the directions given.
  6. If I knew the exact model of your ice maker I could of told you how to fix this one.

I have the same problem with a modle # KSRB25FKSS04, Sr. # SP3825529 if needed. It has overflowed on 3 different occasions and Kitchen Aid Service center claims they have no idea what is causing it.

I shut the ice maker off and empty everything after cleaning up the floor and it works for awhile then it just does it again. Any suggestions???

Icemaker overflowing.

Step 1
The water inlet valve supplies water to refriderator ice.

Step 2
The valve requires a minimum of 20 psi to work.

Step 3
It means water pressure is to low.

Step 4
Here is a link so you can fix it www.repairclinic.com/.../Refrigerator-ice-maker-overflowing

Tray overflowing

Step 1
Your water pressure may be too low. It should be at least 20psi.

Step 2
If it's too low, the water inlet valve may not shut fully and water will leak.

Step 3
If water pressure is sufficient, the water inlet valve will need replacing.
