Not really concerned with value because of the condition. Just trying to identity this chest we picked up. Would love to restore it but need photos to do so. Any idea what the manufacture date or year is? Thanks for any information!

This really looks like a stripper has been used to take the finish off the chest. Plus it also looks like this chest has been modified on the ends and I can see some extra wood there. Not sure what the purpose of the wood is all about unless there was some sort of a handle made to help carry the chest from one location to another. If you want to restore this chest you will probably never find one that looks like this because of the modification I am seeing here.

Is there a STYLE number on the chest (it should be near the serial number)? That would be of great help in maybe finding photos of your Lane Cedar chest. I've tried searching chest styles for every decade, and can find nothing with the curved wood end "handles" like yours. That makes it seem like someone added or changed the end panels...maybe due to damage, or for extra design flare, or simply to add carrying handles for convenience. It also looks as if the finish was removed.
The year is determined by reading a Lane serial number in reverse, so yours would be 1950. The chest appears to have been modified by building a sort of frame with the top handles around it - maybe?
It will be very difficult to find the exact same chest as there were so many made and not every style will be posted and many sellers do not use the model number.
You could review the Lane chests that come up with Google to see if you can find your model but you may have to just look at the stains that were being used during that time period.
This looks like a good forum for what you are trying to do and someone on this site may have a copy of the ad that has a picture of your chest.

This is a lane as it appears, without varnish. There are a few blonde pieces on the market through auction houses and other online sites like eBay , Etsy, etc. I would contact a antique seller/appraiser on the care of the piece.
