Identifying a Pink Bump on My Dog's Leg?

Identifying a Pink Bump on My Dog's Leg? - slightly raised pink bump somewhat smaller than a fingernailI recently noticed this pink bump on my puppy's leg. I have no previous experience owning a puppy and I am not sure what this is. Could someone please help give me an idea of what this might be?

Dogs can get the same infections and skin problems as we can. In a way, this looks like a leg ulcer. Other than this it is some sort of growth on the puppy's leg where the hair has started to grow out of it. I have never taken things like this lightly because I had one dog that used to get these types of growths all the time and I always had them removed. In the end she ended up with cancer and I had to put her to sleep. Taking them off if the vet feels it is necessary saved her life many times over and allowed me to keep her longer.

I would go to see your vet and consult them. They are basically the only ones who actually knows if this is dangerous for the dog or not. I know it is a bit of a problem right now to get to the vet but I would make an appointment and take the puppy. The puppy is very young to have growths like this on their body and it can be nothing at all or a problem with the food. Please take the puppy in to see the vet or the next time you go to get your puppy shots talk to the vet about this one.

It is very difficult to look at this and know what it is. It may be an infection, or a harmless wart or a cancerous growth. And infection can progress quickly to something serious, as can a cancerous growth. But you wont really know until you have it examined by a Veterinarian.

If you guess and guess wrong there could be consequences for your puppy. Get him to your Vet for an exam so you can have some peace about it.

Only a Vet can be for sure, this could be a bite, allergies, cyst, or nothing! But it still needs to be checked as soon as you are able!

It is probably a sebaceous cyst. My dog had one and my vet said they could biopsy it but there was little concern unless it got bigger or changed shape. Since your puppy will be in for another round of shots soon, I would probably just wait and ask your vet at your next appointment.
