Does anyone know what type of desk this is or where it may have been made? I can't find any markings.

The picture is kinda dark but it sure looks like a really neat desk. You will probably have to ask an antique dealer or get an on-line appraisal.
Hopefully you will find out what type of desk you have so please reply or comment and let us know what you find out.
Your desk is a spinet desk. They were made in the early 19th century 19 15 to approx 1940. H.E. Shaw was a furniture company that made them out of Grand rapids Michigan.the original design was from the old stringed instrument a harpsichord when the strings would pop they would turn the harpsichord into a desk because basically it was a mini version of a piano.
It looks like a spinet desk. they were made from old out of tune pianos I believe in the late 1800's to about 1920.
It looks similar to a desk that I purchased several years ago. I believe it is called a Martha Washington writing desk. With the top folded back it looks a bit different than when it is closed. Mine has 1 small square drawer on each side in front and a thin wide drawer across the bottom front.
Without markings it will be difficult. You could take the picture, and several more close-ups, to an antique dealer.
I cant tell you the brand but this style of desk is a spinet desk. They are are called this because when the top is closed they resemble a spinet piano

It's a SPINET desk. They looked like a table but opened up like a piano (over the keys) to reveal shelves/drawers etc and had a pull out writing surface... Seems like this one is probably from 1920's-1930's.
