Is My Dog a German Shepherd?

Is My Dog a German Shepherd?I want to know if she really is a GSD. Her color is totally different to other GSDs. She has plenty of hair on her neck and around her ears.

The dog has all the characters of being a German Shepherd. I am not sure if you adopted the dog from a shelter or bought it from a breeder.

If you did pay for the dog the breeder should supply you with the bloodline and the paperwork necessary for you to register the dog.

From researching breeder and having an AKA dog of my own that has been registered I know for a fact if they are selling pure breed dogs then it is their responsibility to give you the full bloodline of the dog and the registration papers so you can register your dog. Pure breed dogs sell for a lot more money and especially if the dog comes with papers. My dog was given to me as a birthday present and it was a Pekinese.

When the dog came to me there were all kinds of papers with the dog, the bloodline, and the papers to register my dog. If the breeder can't supply you with this information it is possible that you can report them. Breeder should be licensed and follow the rules and if they can't they can be fined for selling these dogs without the correct paperwork.

From all appearances, she looks to have major German Shepherd genes but she is very young and appearances change as they get older.

I'm sure you will be taking her to the vet for her first years vaccinations/shots so ask your vet what they think of her breeding.

Only a DNA test can tell you her complete background and these kits can be purchased online or any pet shop.

DNA test kits can be purchased online, pet stores and from your vet. The cost is really based on how deep you want them to check so be sure to read carefully so you will get just what you want and not overpay for excess tests.

PetSmart has a good assortment.
Vets will be higher.
Amazon has a lot so you might start reading and see if your're interested.
I like them because they tell you a lot about your dog and that includes any health issues they may have later in life.
