I have brown wall tiles, not a solid brown, but mostly brown. What colour can I paint my cabinets to lighten my kitchen and one that does not clash with the wall tile.

Neutral colors such as ivory or sand would lighten up the kitchen. Certain shades of yellow would pair well with brown wall tiles. You said the tiles were not solid brown so, if possible, pull a light color from the tile to use as your wall color.
Pale yellow would be nice.
I like a pale blue and really pale green with brown, esp if you use cream color for the trim. . Get a few paint chips from the big box store like Lowe's or Home Depot and hang them around the room to see what you like in the different lights.
Considering the color of your tile is a solid Brown with a few specks of other colors, I would basically use a light shade of tan on my walls. You can also try some of the paint that is made with sand mixed in the paint. Sand paint have beautiful colors and is very light and will blend easily with a darker brown wall tile.
What kind of brown would you say? Like a brown as in dirt, or lighter brown/tan?
I would probably go with lighter cabinets to brighten up the space like a neutral off white.
