Laptops for Students?

I am asking mainly for a friend. She has 4 children at home, is a single parent, and is working at a minimum wage job. The schools have now gone all computerised thus meaning the children have to access their phones to get their homework and try and do it via phones. This now is becoming very hard for them and their mum is looking for a laptop that the children can use for homework and for her to complete her level three. I know it would be a long shot, but does anyone know of any charities or grant givers that maybe able to help?

Go to the guidance department in a secondary school or directly to the principal in an elementary school

I would consult with the school counselor and see if there are any resources or lender laptop.

Check with the schools to see if they have any after school programs where they can do their homework on campus with the tools and resources there.

You can also check your local library as well.

We do not have anyway to know if you are in the US or another country so answers or suggestions will usually be for US residents.

  • It may be a good idea for the mother to make an appointment with the guidance counselors of the schools the children attend and explain the problems the family is having. They may have a way to help.
  • She should also check with her counselor as they also many times have lists of places to apply for laptops for students in need.
  • If you are in the US then someone could place a free ad on Craigslist and Freecycle asking for help with a laptop as this is a very good site for this type of think.

  • Here are 3 web sites that have information about how to acquire a computer - some are free and some are low cost. I am not sure if these are just for the US but I d not think so.
