Leak Left White Powder Residue on Laminate Floor?

Leak Left White Powder Residue on Laminate FloorI had a major leak in my apartment and the laminate floors were soaked. Now that everything is dried out, there is some kind of white powder substance on the floor. I've tried just water and cleaning solutions and it won't come off. I tried a sweeper with the brush on and off and it does not get sucked up. I'm wondering if it is actually from the floor somehow. Does anyone have an idea of what this could be and how to clean it up?

it is called efflorescence. Your leak left behind salt deposits Try using diluted vinegar to clean it. Use 4 or 5 ounces in a gallon of warm water.

USE PEROXIDE POURED ON A RAG AND WIPE THE STAINS OFF THE FLOOR.
YOU CAN ALSO USE MINERAL OIL.RUB IT INTO THE FLOOR,LEAVE ON OVERNIGHT.RINSE OFF IN THE MORNING.

this is why one should not use water to clean such floors due to a chemical reaction between the varnish and the water.

cleaning with vinegar and H2O2 as previously stated works, but it takes a few passes through to make it right

You'd best check with your landlord and ask what he she recommends and if the leak was in many apartments they should do a global clean and restore. If it got under the cabinets you could be at risk for mold or rot. I had this problem when I first moved into my house and a pipe burst. The floors never came clean and the subfloor started to rot and under cabinets were moldy. It was a huge mess and an expensive fix. Definitely something for the landlord to resolve.
