Making a Little Lady Pop Tab Key Fob

finished soda can tab lady key fobThis cute little lady is simple to make, but a little fiddly because she is so tiny. Have a little patience and take your time and you will be pleased with the result.

Supplies:

  • 1 pull tab
  • 1 short length of fine cord or yarn
  • little scraps of fine cloth
  • 1 sewing needle
  • red thread
  • black thread
  • strong glue
  • scissors
  • 1 key ring
supplies for making key fob
 

Steps:

  1. Tie the cord to the pull tab, saving some of the cord for the hair.
  2. tying yarn to pull tab and leaving a bit for part of her hair

  3. Make two little black back stitches on a scrap of fabric for the eyes.
  4. using black thread to make eyes on fabric scrap
     
  5. Check that the face fits within the tab.
  6. check fitting face placement on fabric against tab opening
     
  7. Make one red back stitch for the mouth.

  9. Cut the cloth to fit.
  10. using scissors to cut out face from fabric
     
  11. Apply glue to the back of the tab.
  12. adding glue to back side of pull tab
     
  13. Stick the face in place.

  15. Snip some cord into short lengths and apply to the front for the hair.

  17. Cut another contrasting piece to fit the other space and glue in place.

  19. Now cut a backing piece and glue in place.
  20. backing fabric has been cut to cover the entire back
     
    backing now applied to lower tab opening
     
  21. Tie the other end of the cord to the key ring and seal the ends with a little dab of glue.

  23. And there you have your sweet little lady key fob.
