Sewing Machine CoverFor an inexpensive sewing machine cover, purchase a good quality pillow case from the thrift store or yard sale. Cut and shape the bottom, fancy open end to fit your sewing machine. Sew across the edge you just cut. You can add lace or whatever you like to embellish it.

I purchased this little machine for my grandchildren to use, but found that it was a great travel machine for me too. After a couple of years of use the original thin vinyl cover began to tear around the opening for the handle.

Finished cover on machine.

Thanks for the links, MCW. I did do a brief search, but posted this hoping that someone would post a tried and true pattern that they have used.

I actually made a cover for my machine with a white pillowcase, some bias binding and fabric paint. First, choose the right size case by measuring your machine's height at the tallest point and length at the longest point (don't forget to include any protruding bits). Then cut the case to the finished length you want. Finish the raw edge with bias (mine is green with small white pin dots), then paint on whatever design you fancy with coordinating fabric paints.

You could also applique on shapes using iron-on patches or fusible web on fabric scraps. You can accent the edges of these with fabric paint which I find also seals the fusing for better wear.
