Making a Singing Angel Christmas Card

An angel is a messenger that brings holy messages, and during Christmas time it is a festive symbol that most of us can associate with. Make a Christmas card with a little angel as the focal point. The pure white of her wings and the angelic face will bring a message of "peace and joy" to the recipient.

Total Time: 30 minutes

Yield: one card

Supplies:

  • 5.6 x 8.2 in red cardstock
  • 2.6 x 3.2 in unbleached linen
  • piece of ordinary white printer paper
  • piece of vintage lace
  • four small white feathers
  • curly blonde synthetic doll hair
  • 14mm wide black musical notes self-adhesive decorative lace tape
  • pair of 8mm pink wiggle eyes
  • four 10mm rhinestone star stickers
  • flesh acrylic paint
  • Artline 210 black marker
  • purple colored felt-tip pen
  • needle and thread
  • paintbrush
  • pencil
  • ruler
  • scissors
  • clear-drying craft glue (such as Bostik Clear)

Steps:

  1. Score the red cardstock in half to create a card sized 5.6" x 4.1".
  2. With the fold at the left, glue a strip of decorative lace tape to the bottom of the card and cut off any protruding edges.

  4. Glue the vintage lace to one of the shorter sides of the unbleached linen and cut off any protruding edges.

  6. Thread the other short side of the unbleached linen with a tacking stitch and gather the frills together.

  8. Decide where the wings should be placed on the card and lightly mark the area with a pencil. Glue the four feathers on the card to make the wings.

  10. Glue the angel's dress in place.

  12. Paint a small piece of white paper with the flesh paint and allow to dry thoroughly.

  14. Once dry, cut a circle with a diameter of 1.1" from the flesh colored paper for the angel's face. Glue the face in place.
  15. Glue the doll's hair and the wiggle eyes in place.
  16. Use the Artline 210 black marker to draw a singing mouth and nose.
  17. Add rosy cheeks with the purple colored felt-tip pen, and freckles with the black marker.

  19. Add a star each to the angel's head and dress, and add the other two in random places.
