Steps:

  1. Clean and wash out the plastic bottle you want to use.

  3. Remove the lid and take your knife to make a small hole in the upper part of the bottle. Continue to make the holes in the bottle to add your leaves to the bottle. Do not go too far down the bottle when making our holes. Only use the upper half of the bottle.
  4. Succulent Plant Starter - make holes in the upper half of the plastic bottle

  5. Now place your leaves in the holes. The cut part of the leaf goes on the inside and the rest of the leaf stays on the outside.
  6. Succulent Plant Starter - insert the cut end of a succulent leaf into the hole in the bottle

Succulent Plant Starter - continue adding leaves - to bottle with water in lower half

  7. Fill the lower half of the bottle with water and add the cap to the bottle.
  8. The leaves will start to root within 4 to 8 days. Leave the leaves in the bottle until you see a good amount of roots on each one of them.
  9. Succulent Plant Starter - new roots forming

I've gotten many new plant starts using many different techniques. Your method is new to me and I can't wait to try it.

Thanks

Im confused here. Is the water in the bottom for humidity only? Ive always just laid leaves on top of a pot of dirt. Can you clarify this for me? Thanks!

Yes, it is for humidity and helps to root the leaves so much faster than just laying them in the dirt.
