Microfiber Melted on Hot Pot?

I just set a hot pan on top of a microfiber cloth, now I have melted microfiber all over the bottom of my good pan. Any ideas of how to get it off? I can't use the pan on the stove or it will ruin the stove too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like a bit of a nightmare, Sister G. I've not encountered this before and I do use microfiber cloths for a few things around the house. If you have a heat gun or even hair dryer, what do you think about trying to warm up that mess a bit and see if you can scrape it off with a putty knife? If it melted once onto your pan, perhaps melting it again will help remove it?

I heated a large pot of boiling water on the stove top and placed the pan with the burnt microfiber into the pot. After 5-10 minutes carefully remove the pan from the boiling water. Make sure you have an oven mit as the handle will heat up. I then used a razor scraper and a metal putty knife to scrape the burnt microfiber residue off.

I had to repeat putting the pan back into the boiling water 3 or 4 more times and repeated the same process. Once the majority of the residue was removed I put the pan back into the boiling water and switched to a metal scouring pad to finish cleaning the bottom of the pan.

I just saved an expensive stainless steel pan thanks to you all. It is very easy. The one commentator is correct. HEAT IT UP AGAIN. (I put mine in the oven at 450 (on parchment paper in case something melted off (!) - and then - while it was still hot (careful, use a good mitt) - - scraped the layer of melted microfiber off with a razor blade scraper. It came off pretty darn easily. (No need for vinegar or anything else).

Just make sure you get it all (so that your stovetop doesn't get some residue at next cooking). I used some baking soda as a light abrasive to scrub pan bottom after it had cooled. LAstly - if your glass stovetop got some on - (yup, I went from microfiber back to stove top - ugh ) No worries, the microfiber residue on our stove top scraped away easily when cool.
