Microwave Won't Start?

I need help. I have problem with my microwave and it won't start. I can still press the top menu and press stop and clear, but the number and the start button won't work. The light inside is not off when is the door is closed. I don't know what to do. Is there anyone that knows how I can fix this?

This could be a fuse issue, with this microwave!

I would unplug it and replug it. That may clear out its memory and get it to work again.

Microwaves are dangerous to repair. Find a blow out diagram of the parts to order correctly: most repair sites have this. T

To repair the microwave, when it does not start means that the latch seat is worn. This is a job you can repair yourself. Unplug the machine and let it sit.

Remove the cover and set aside the screws because they are specific. Do not touch any parts that are active to make microwaves. The part that is worn is where the hook fastens. Remove and reorder the part. Replace. Place cover back on and try MW. If it works screw cover back on.

If your light does not shut off when the door is cloes it is a problem with the latch on the door. The door needs to be latched and closed in order for the oven to work properly. You need to see what is in the latch and if a spring is broken inside it or not.

The buttons will not work if the door stays open and the oven can not start with the door latch broken.

I find it helpful to talk to the customer services for the company. If you find the brand and make and model of the device, you can easily locate their customer services and give them a call (Google usually brings it up quickly with a few key words like the brand and the phrase customer services).

I would not attempt to do microwave repairs on my own, but if it is something as simple as checking a latch, that may be doable.

You don't mention how old your device is. If it is 3-5 years old, I have learned that that is about how long these newer ones last. It is terrible, but true.

I hate to see these get trashed, so my last suggestion is see if you have one of these community repair places that are popping up in coffee shops around the country and if they can fix it.

Here is a link to one of the groups...called Repair Cafes:

How long have you had your microwave? Sometimes it won't be an easy fix and you may need a new one..
