Steps:

  1. Cut a piece of yarn about 12 inches long. Tie one end of the yarn onto the dowel.
  2. tie yarn onto dowel

  3. Leave a tail to wrap around the dowel, to secure the "fishing line". Run a line of hot glue down the dowel and wrap the yarn over it. When you reach the end, put a dot of hot glue onto the end of the dowel and push the end of the yarn into it to secure it.

This is a great idea, I think my grandkids would love this! It would be so easy to personalize it with different shapes - the boys would love cars for instance. For people who dont like to cut & sew, you could also buy pre-cut felt shapes & hot glue the 2 pieces together. If you could fit 2 poles in the tin, that would be even better. Thanks for the idea!

How wonderfully tiny! I love these and I can't wait to make one! I like the idea of putting the washers on the inside! Genius! This is the exact kind of thing I love to have on hand in my purse!

Cut the shapes out of paper and attach paper clips. No big tears if the fish get lost or soiled. With older children, I get them to practice drawing by copying real fish pictures.
