You should have this looked at as soon as possible as it does look infected.
Since today is Sunday you may want to ask a pharmacist at your local drug store if they can recommend something to rinse your mouth to maybe help with the infection until you can see someone about it.

I can only recommend rinsing your mouth with 1/2 water/peroxide solution several times or even stronger peroxide solution.
Some people recommend using warm very salty water as a rinse so maybe you could try one of these for today.

Very normal cuz I also had my tongue pierced for many years, swelling was so bad that i was hard to understand when speaking, Drink Slurpees and Do ride with equal parts peroxide and water But You MUST rinse mouth thoroughly off solution because peroxide will continue to eating away at bacteria then taste buds.... my entire tongue turned white and every taste bud swelled 3x normal size.

A tongue piercing officially takes between six and eight weeks to completely heal. A little bit of swelling is normal after all, your tongue now has a hole in it. Still, the amount of swelling shouldnt keep you from drinking water or talking. Pain and swelling should start to subside by the end of the first week. However, your individual healing process depends entirely on how you care for your new piercing.

Youll need to be careful with the types of foods that you eat, as these can get stuck around the jewelry and make you uncomfortable. Soft, bland foods like applesauce and yogurt are preferred.

You can do a salt rinse to help minimize any pain and swelling. Ready-made rinses may be available for purchase from your piercer, or you can make your own at home. Use it several times per day at first to encourage the healing process.

It may be infected. Go back to where you had it done and get it checked out ASAP.

I would go back to the place where you had it done and have them check it.

This is concerning, you should ask about this where you got your piercing and also having this checked by a doctor. The swelling is bad.

It's normal to have a little redness around the piercing site for the first few days. If the problem persists, it may be infected.

All of the seven answers were good. It is obviously infected or could be a reaction to the metal in the piercing object. GOOGLE ADA "tongue piercing" for a full discussion of the issue. TP is a form of self expression of course but it has come with hazards.

One is infection from the many bacteria that exist in the moist mouth environment and are normally not a problem. On occasion tongue piercing can lead to more serious illnesses such as hepatitis and endocarditis.

I would certainly think that two days after a tongue piercing, that there would be redness, swelling and some pain. Using a salt water rinse for disinfecting, and eating popsicles, holding cold water in your mouth or using a cold compress for the pain, would help.

But for the life of me at age 65, I don't understand why anybody would put themselves through that. I've known several "younger" people that got a tongue piercing, and if it doesn't make their speech harder to understand, then they are always flicking it against their teeth making an annoying clicking sound.

One person actually hooked the tongue stud with their fork while eating, and pulled the stud right out of their tongue.....not good.

Anyway, if pain, redness or swelling persists or gets worse after a couple weeks, see a doctor or return to the piercing place to get it looked at. Good luck.
