Origami Copper Tulip

Total Time: 30 Minutes

Yield: The tulip is about 2 inches long

Supplies:

• copper foil, I used foil from an old transformer
• iron ruler
• scissors or knife
• awl
• copper wire 0.8 mm thick
• pliers and wire cutters
• superglue (cyanoacrylate) glue

Steps:

1. Use an awl and ruler to mark two 1.5-inch squares. Cut off two squares. I decided not to clean the darkened areas of the foil, as this will give the tulip a vintage look.

 

 
2. Fold the tulip bud from the first square as shown in the photos (or use the tulip origami diagram).

 

 

 

 

 
3. Fold the tulip leaf from the second square as shown in the photographs.

4. Make holes in the base of the tulip bud. Thread the copper wire through the holes. Bend the wire carefully to avoid damaging the tulip bud. This will be the stem of the tulip. Insert the wire inside the leaf, then wrap the end of the wire around the base of the leaf. Cut off the excess wire ends.
   
   In order to better fix the flower, glue tulip bud to the leaf. If you want to use this tulip as a brooch, then glue a brooch pin, sand the edges.
