Painting Christmas Tree Light Wire?

I have a pre-lit white Christmas tree. One row went out. I tried the Light Pro Fixer thing, no help. I bought a 50 green wire strand ($2.28). I changed all the bulbs and fuses, still nothing. So, I decided after transferring all the bulbs back to the new green wire strand to put that where the lights were out. Since I have a white tree the green wire really stands out. Can you spray paint the wire white? Or what are your ideas please. Obviously, for next year. Thank you.

I was just thinking how about white out painted on the wires? I know it sticks to a lot of materials.
