Paula Dean has a good and fairly easy one.

4 cups of sliced peaches (I have used canned or you can use fresh)
1 cup of sugar
a second 1 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of water
8 tablespoons of butter
1 and 1/2 cups of flour (self rising)
1 and 1/2 cups of milk (I use 2% milk)
1 teaspoonful of cinnamon
1/2 cup water

Mix the peaches, 1 cup of the sugar and 1/2 cup of water in a pan. Mix well, bring to boil then turn to a simmer for about 7-10 minutes. Set aside.

Melt the butter and put in baking dish.

Mix the remaining sugar, milk and flour well. Get rid of any clumps. Pour carefully over the butter but dont mix it with the butter. Carefully put the peach mixture on top (I spoon it on) then sprinkle cinnamon on top.

Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes, depending on your oven.

While it is baking, the batter raises to the top and turns golden.

I have also used apples and cherries for the fruit. If I use cherries, I don't add the cinnamon.

When I look for any recipe online, I always look at the rating and how many people rated it. I then read the comments. That's the best way if you have not actually tasted the recipe.

I do not cook desserts very often but this is something that can be thrown together if you are going to have quests and need a quick, usually delicious, dessert.

Pick up a package of Louisiana Cobbler Mix at most any larger grocery store and a can or two of any fruit filling (usually used for pies). I love blueberry and blackberry but my guests generally like any kind. (Especially when served with ice cream!)

Peach and apple both work very well with this mix and the preparation and baking just could not be any easier.

I know there are many who would not go this route but this is one of those things should be tried before giving it a hands down approach.

I love using Taste of Home recipes, All Recipes web site, And Food Network has all the famous chefs. When I am looking for a specific recipe, I just Google it, and pick from my favorite web sites.

Ive always preferred fresh peaches. Ive never liked peaches that had been heated, even those that were heated to slip the skins off before canning them.

This recipe was in a cook booklet by the Georgia Peach Commission in the early 1970s. I love this and so has everyone who has ever tried it! I hope you do, too!

Peach Cobbler
from SpinninJenny

A quick and easy peach cobbler recipe; serve with whipped cream or ice cream.

1 stick of melted butter (1/2 cup)
2 cups self-rising flour
2 cups sugar
2 cups milk
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 large can sliced peaches in syrup, un-drained, about 28 to 32 ounces

Preheat oven to 350°. Spray a 13 x 9-inch baking pan with non-stick baking spray.

Put melted butter in 13 x 9 pan.

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, milk, and cinnamon; stir until blended.

Pour peaches and syrup into dish with butter. Pour batter into pan over the peaches, do not stir.

Bake at 350° for a total of 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm or cold. Refrigerate any leftovers.

Notes:
To make this smaller, use 1/2 of everything. And use 8x8 or 9x9-inch pan.

Ive made this with other fruit:
3 or 4 cups Blueberries, fresh or frozen
2 or 3 Apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
2 or 3 Pears, fresh, peeled, cored and thinly sliced or canned
3 cups Cherries, fresh or frozen omit the cinnamon
