Supplies:

Picture Frame Magnet - supplies
 

Steps:

  1. Using a ruler, determine the picture frame size you would like and draw it on the cardboard. Using an X-acto knife trace your outline. *Optional: I originally was going to make this picture frame with a backing to stand on a desk, but I decided I wanted this frame to be a magnet instead.
  2. Picture Frame Magnet  - draw the size frame you want on the cardboard

  3. I cut assorted sizes of paper squares and rolled them into tubes with my pen then secured with tape. Repeat until you have enough to cover your frame.
  4. Picture Frame Magnet - cut out paper squares of differing sizes
     
    Picture Frame Magnet - roll them around a pen or pencil and tape
     
    Picture Frame Magnet - enough rolls of paper to cover the frame

  5. Secure paper tubes with hot glue gun. Trim excess.
  6. Picture Frame Magnet - use hot glue to attach rolls to frame

    Picture Frame Magnet - flip over and trim excess off with your knife

  7. To hide the cardboard trim, I used sticker ribbon.

  9. For the picture frame window, I cut a square piece from a Ziploc bag. Use hot glue and secure plastic window to the frame.

    Picture Frame Magnet - cover opening in the frame and use hot glue to secure
     
  11. As a cute accent to the frame, I added hearts. It is very easy, cut a strip of paper and fold in half. Roll both sides to form your heart. Secure hearts down with hot glue.

    Picture Frame Magnet - paper rolled to just short of the fold
     
    Picture Frame Magnet - two paper hearts on the opposite corners of the frame

  13. Using another piece of a Ziploc bag, cut out a square piece. Tape along the edge and cut out a V shape, so you can easily switch out the photo.
  14. Picture Frame Magnet - cut another square from the plastic bag
     
    Picture Frame Magnet - tape the edge to the back of the frame
     
    Picture Frame Magnet - cut a V shaped notch to be able to change out the photo
     
  15. Lastly, cut magnetic strips to secure to the back edges of the picture frame.
