Piecing Quilt Batting?

Can I piece together batting if I have leftovers from previous projects?
I have 2 types of batting leftovers I want to use rather than buy new bags.

It would be tough. You can't have them overlap or have a regular seam, as it would be lumpy. You could try it with a wide zigzag stitch if you placed them tightly side by side.

I make "scrap" quilts and often piece leftover batting together with a zigzag stitch. I hate to throw anything away!
