Place Empty Bottles in Garden Pot

Gold Post Medal for All Time! 555 Posts

Place Empty Bottles in Garden Pot - planter with plastic bottles in bottomWhen filling a very large pot with flowers, first you may add closed plastic bottles from your recycling bin or even Styrofoam from leftover packages to the bottom before adding the soil. It not only reduces the amount of soil you need it's great to make it a lighter pot to have to move around!

Styrofoam is inclined to crumble and mix with the soil. This means you can't compost it when the pot needs emptying and 'throwing it away' means more plastic pollution.
Bottles work as they can be recycled afterwards.
