Ingredients:

  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 3 carrots, cut in thin rounds
  • 3 ribs celery, cut in small pieces
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb split peas
  • 2 Tbsp oil
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 Tbsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp thyme
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 6 cups water or broth

Steps:

  1. Rinse the peas in a colander.
