Receiving Social Security Survivor's Benefits?

I'm 17. I was legally told I could leave my residence. I was saying at my parents' house.I'm now on my own. I'm not going to be 18 till March, but my benefits are in my name and going to my bank card that's also just in my name. Would I receive them since I changed my address to the one that I'm currently living at?

I am not clear what your question is, but that doesn't matter because your questions need to be answered by the Social Security office and NOT in any public discussion forum:

Here is their toll free telephone number: 1 (800) 772-1213. Please call today.

I don't say that to be mean, I say it because in critical things like this you always need to go to the source and get the correct information. Your situation is not the same as someone else's situation. Only the Social Security office can tell you the right answer for YOUR situation. Please! Call today!

I hope you are in a living situation that is safe, that you have food and, clothing and what you need to be healthy and safe--which is what your benefits are designed to provide. I also hope you are staying in school. That is very important and dropping out may affect your benefit!

Do you have a trusted adult who can help guide you? I strongly encourage you to find a mentor--a teacher, a guidance counselor, an aunt or uncle, a parent of a friend--someone who can keep you on a good and safe path. Do not try to go it alone! Please take care and stay safe.

Sending prayers and lots of good wishes up for you to get the answers you need and be in a safe place where you can thrive. Post back with an update.

You can receive survivor benefits up to the age of 19, as long as you are still in high school.
If the funds are direct deposit, the money will be there, no matter where you live.

If you change bank accounts, you have to tell them.

Normally with SS they send the funds to your bank account each month. As long as you have not changed your bank account and it is still on file with SS the money should still be sent there. Just to make sure I would call SS and find out if they are still sending your money even through you have changed your place of residence.

Hi there, make sure your bank account is solely in your name.Make sure you keep the same account(otherwise you loose time and money for change). If it is linked to your debit card you are in good shape! Be careful using your pin(many scammers out there) Good Luck!

Social Security is the place to find accurate answers to YOUR questions or concerns.
There are some things that can be found out over the telephone with SS but as a general rule they will not give out information concerning benefits or addresses.

You need to go to their office in person and give them a change of address. Does the bank also have your new address?
I do not know what your living arrangement is at the present time but if you are receiving SS benefits you are legally obligated to inform SS of any changes in where you are living.
I hope you know that benefits are paid for you to be able to attend school full time until you are 18 or until you graduate but only until you reach 19 years of age even if you have not graduated.
SS can give you the information you are asking about but be sure to contact them in person.
