Recovering a Vinyl Covered Trunk?

Recovering a Vinyl Covered Trunk - trunk covered with white vinylI have what looks like a homemade trunk covered in vinyl. It was a great job I would say, but it's white and been around for years. It needs an uplift. Do I or can I recover again with vinyl? I guess the current vinyl was glued onto the trunk. It looks dirty, but I cannot wash the marks off.

In order to do the job correctly the end brackets will need to be removed. If you can peel off the paper first this is even better. I would try and get the old paper off the trunk first before adding the new paper. You might even find that you like the trunk without the paper on it and a coat of paint will do the trick to restore the old trunk. I have added paint to metal in the past and you can pick and choose the colors you like. I would use a rust paint if I were you and you want to go this way.
